Grupo Coppel inaugurated its Regional Distribution Center (CEDIS) in Texcoco with an investment of 1.2 billion pesos, marking a significant advance in its logistics expansion and commitment to sustainability and job creation. This CEDIS covers 124,000 square meters and is equipped with cutting-edge technology to process up to 225,000 products daily, supplying 235 stores in seven states of Mexico.
Agustín Coppel Luken, president and CEO of Grupo Coppel, highlighted the importance of the center by generating more than 1,000 direct jobs and integrating the local community, making it a logistical reference in the country. Furthermore, he emphasized that Coppel's CEDIS stands out for its focus on sustainability in the retail industry in Mexico, bringing more products to customers more quickly.
The new CEDIS in Texcoco will not only boost job creation in the State of Mexico, but will also improve the company's logistics capacity. The implementation of advanced technologies such as smart forklifts and sorters will allow Coppel to reduce delivery times and increase productivity by 25% compared to other distribution centers.
The commitment to sustainability is reflected in the design of the center, which incorporates a water treatment plant and a waste recycling system. This system will process more than 1,350 tons of waste per year, equivalent to saving an additional 33,000 trees, demonstrating the company's commitment to environmental well-being and clean energy.
With 917 solar panels, the CEDIS in Texcoco will generate 750,000 kWh annually, reducing emissions by 329 tons of CO₂ per year, which is equivalent to saving more than 5,400 trees. In short, Grupo Coppel shows a strong commitment to sustainability, logistical efficiency, and job creation with the opening of its new Distribution Center in Texcoco.
